Channel 14, The second most watched channel in Israel, has once again provided a platform for calls to commit war crimes, this time on its flagship program, "The Patriots", by far-right activist Moshe Feiglin.
Feiglin, a former Knesset member from the Likud party and leader of the failed Zehut party, incited the commission of war crimes, preached delegitimization of the IDF and its General Staff, and promoted anti-liberal values.
Feiglin, who was previously convicted of incitement to rebellion, appeared on the program on December 30 to promote his new book, in which he claims that liberal organizations and values are Israel's enemies and are, among other things, responsible for the October 7 massacre (carried out by Hamas).
After receiving praise from the program's host, Yinon Magal, Feiglin turned to explain to the panel and viewers at home who the true enemy of the State and citizens of Israel is. He pointed out who is responsible for the deaths of the hundreds of soldiers who have been killed so far in the war and who is to blame for the October 7 massacre. According to him, it is not Hamas or Hezbollah, and not even Iran.
According to Feiglin, "Most of the soldiers in this war were killed because of the progressive agenda. If it weren't for the progressive mindset that has taken over the IDF commanders and the senior political echelon, the war in Gaza would have ended in five minutes. They would have burned Gaza like the British burned Dresden, the Americans burned Hiroshima [...] and they wouldn't have been afraid to conquer."
"In the era of progressivism, it's no longer possible to conquer territory," the guest continued to explain on Channel 14's program. "There are no longer national identities, and there is no longer the ability to achieve a national victory."
The panel members of "The Patriots" did not oppose the call to burn the Gaza Strip, with its 2 million residents, or to drop an atomic bomb on it. On the contrary, they encouraged the toxic discourse:
Yinon Magal: "So, who is the enemy?"
Feiglin: "The enemy is progressivism, the enemy is the progressive mindset".
Magal: "Isn't Hamas the enemy?"
Feiglin: "Hamas is the small hammer hitting us from above, it has no significance without the anvil of progressivism that gives it the power to crush our skulls. It has no ability to win without the anvil of progressivism tying the hands of our soldiers, it has no ability to win without penetrating the bloodstream of our senior command".
Irit Linor: "So how do we defeat this enemy?"
Feiglin: "Simply, we need to create for ourselves a leadership that is pure from this filth, from this progressive poison. A new military leadership, a new political leadership, free from this progressive filth."
Calls for genocide and crimes against humanity. The burning alive of men, women, and children. The abolition of the laws of war and the purity of arms, both Israeli and international. The imposition of a nationalist worldview in which all enemy civilians are considered to be deserving of death. In the face of these and more, the only criticism heard from the panel members of "The Patriots" was that the world would oppose it.
The violent incitement on Channel 14's flagship program is, of course, not surprising. A series of public reports by The Seventh Eye about Channel 14 has shown how incitement to violence and war crimes is a recurring motif in the channel's broadcasts.
Incitement to violence is a criminal offense in Israel. The prohibition applies specifically to media outlets, both according to the regulation of commercial channels and the conditions of their licenses. However, the Attorney General almost never acts against such incitement when it is carried out by Jews, while the Second Authority for Television and Radio does not take action against Channel 14, a propaganda platform that frequently serves the government.
